Local media estimates suggest that the number of victims could reach thousands, with a significant number of people reported missing or displaced. The cyclone has caused severe destruction, completely decimating villages and isolating communities along its path.
In response to this crisis, the Executive Secretariat urgently appeals to the President of the African Union Commission and international organizations to provide immediate support and assistance. It calls for concerted international efforts to mitigate the catastrophic impact of the cyclone on the affected areas. Moreover, it urges the coordination of continental endeavors to dispatch a humanitarian mission promptly to the affected regions. This mission would focus on rescuing victims, aiding survivors, and ensuring the provision of crucial humanitarian supplies.
