Today, Thursday, November 23, 2023, the implementation of the Leadership Centers Exercise began at the regional base in Jijel, Algeria. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Brigadier General Belkacem Hassane, Chief of the Utilization and Equipment Department of the Algerian People’s National Army’s Staff, as well as the Executive Secretary of the North African Regional Power, the Military District Commander, the Planning Element Chief, and delegations from participating member states in the exercise.
The proceedings started with a speech by the General, Chief of the Utilization Department, followed by a speech from the Executive Secretary, and a presentation by the Exercise Director, who is also the Planning Element Chief. Afterward, visits were made to the mission’s command centers, forces, and sectors, where the guests listened to the decisions of the commanders and the heads of the police and civilian components, as well as the mission’s chief.
Subsequently, scenarios were sent to the headquarters by the exercise management, and they were dealt with by the commanders, who proposed solutions through presentations that were made after taking the necessary steps, representing the degree of response and the required time. During this period, the atmosphere of the mission was simulated on the ground, and activities and hypothetical situations were carried out at all leadership levels by the exercise management.
The exercise activities will continue for two days, after which an analysis and discussion of the exercise will take place, and observations will be recorded to prepare a final report to be presented at the next council meeting.
