On Wednesday, July 17, 2024, the Executive Secretary of the North Africa Regional Capability (NARC), accompanied by a delegation, attended a celebratory evening hosted by the Economic, Social and Cultural Council of the African Union (ECOSOCC) in honor of its 20th anniversary.
The event featured speeches and presentations that highlighted ECOSOCC’s achievements, activities, and partnerships over the past two decades, as well as its future aspirations. Attendees gained valuable insights into the Council’s significant contributions and its vision for the future.
Adding a cultural dimension to the festivities, traditional Ghanaian folklore performances captivated the audience. Following the performances, ECOSOCC presented commemorative plaques to distinguished African cultural figures and dignitaries, including former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo and other prominent literary and cultural personalities from across the continent.
Established on July 4, 2004, ECOSOCC is headquartered in Lusaka, Zambia. It serves as an advisory body to the African Union, facilitating interaction and dialogue between AU member states and African citizens. ECOSOCC plays a crucial role in harnessing the expertise of civil society organizations and the private sector to contribute to policy development and implementation.
