The Executive Secretary of the North Africa Regional Capability (NARC), accompanied by a delegation, participated in the 45th Ordinary Session of the African Union (AU) Executive Council held in Accra, Ghana, from July 18 to 19, 2024.
The Executive Council addressed a wide range of critical issues concerning the African Union, including those related to peace and security. Notably, the Council endorsed recommendations from the Specialized Technical Committee on Defense, Safety, and Security, prioritizing the attainment of full operational capability for NARC, the strategic lift concept, and training policies for the African Standby Force.
Furthermore, the Council adopted the recommendation of the committee responsible for evaluating Uganda as the host country for the headquarters of the African Humanitarian Agency. They also conducted voting to select members for various AU institutions.
Alongside the Executive Council meeting, the NARC Executive Secretary and the accompanying delegation engaged in several other African meetings and events taking place in Accra, including the mid-year coordination meeting.
