The Executive Secretary of the North African Regional Capability (NARC), accompanied by an official delegation, conducted a consultative visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt on April 8th and 9th.
The visit included high-level meetings with Major General Walaa Baybars, Assistant Minister of Defense for Foreign Relations, Information, and Security, and Ambassador Dr. Mohamed Omar Gad, Assistant Foreign Minister and Director of the Department of African Organizations and Communities. The sessions were also attended by officials overseeing the NARC portfolio from the Ministries of Defense, Foreign Affairs, and Interior, alongside commanders of NARC components based in Egypt.
The proceedings opened with welcoming remarks from Major General Baybars and Ambassador Gad. In response, the Executive Secretary delivered a speech expressing his profound gratitude to the Arab Republic of Egypt for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him and his delegation.
The Executive Secretary further commended Egypt’s steadfast support for NARC, highlighting its role in hosting the Brigade Headquarters and the Logistics Base, as well as its commitment to hosting various regional activities and training exercises. He emphasized that this support, complemented by the efforts of other member states, was instrumental in the 2024 declaration of the region’s full operational readiness. He concluded by affirming that NARC’s new leadership is determined to strengthen this cooperation, in alignment with Egypt’s longstanding and pioneering role within the African continent.
